Rātribhojanacopaī (रात्रिभोजनचोपई) is the name of a work by Dharmasamudra dealing with the Ethics section of Jain Canonical literature.—The Rātribhojanacopaī (in Gujarati) is included in the collection of manuscripts at the ‘Vincenzo Joppi’ library, collected by Luigi Pio Tessitori during his visit to Rajasthan between 1914 and 1919.—Dharmasamudra composed the Rātribhojanacopaī about the prohibition from eating after sunset at paṃcālasa (see above). In the introduction he explains how the night is not proper for any religious activity and even less for food. Eating food at night produces diseases. Then comes the story of King amarasena. Once he heard a monk preaching about the prohibition of night-eating and talked about it to his wife. She gave birth to a son, Jayasena. Several incidents happened in the latter’s life. After having heard the story of his previous birth he married one Jayasenā. The couple lived happily.
