Source: Shodhganga: Thought of buddha natureas depicted in the Lankavatara-sutraRatnagotravibhāgaśāstra (रत्नगोत्रविभागशास्त्र), also known as the Mahāyānōttaratantraśāstra or simply Uttaratantra, is the great explanation of the Buddha-nature thought. The Ratnagotravibhāgaśāstra (or “Jewel Nature Treatise” / “Buddha-nature Treatise”) synthesizes the significant development of the idea prior. While the Śrīmālādevīsūtra generally emphasized the process of the self-evolution from the enlightening potentiality of Buddha-nature to become itself Dharmakāya as a fruit, the śāstra refers to the identity of these two concepts as an ontological antecedent. In other words, although the Buddha-nature and Dharmakāya are linguistically different, both are ontologically identical. Therefore
Mahayana (महायान, mahāyāna) is a major branch of Buddhism focusing on the path of a Bodhisattva (spiritual aspirants/ enlightened beings). Extant literature is vast and primarely composed in the Sanskrit language. There are many sūtras of which some of the earliest are the various Prajñāpāramitā sūtras.
