Source: Wisdom Library: Āyurveda and botanyRasāgni (रसाग्नि, “essence-fire”):—One of the seven tissue fires (Dhatvagni).—A Sanskrit technical term from Āyurveda (Indian medicine) and used in literature such the Carakasaṃhitā and the Suśrutasaṃhitā. This ‘fire’, or, agnī, is related to rasa (‘chyle’ or ‘plasma’) and is responsible for converting the juices of foods into the plasma tissue called Rasadhātu.
Āyurveda (आयुर्वेद, ayurveda) is a branch of Indian science dealing with medicine, herbalism, taxology, anatomy, surgery, alchemy and related topics. Traditional practice of Āyurveda in ancient India dates back to at least the first millenium BC. Literature is commonly written in Sanskrit using various poetic metres.
