Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionaryrāpaṇēṃ (रापणें) [or रांपणें, rāmpaṇēṃ].—v i (rāpa) To blacken through exposure to air or by contact with iron--an astringent or austere fruit or vegetable: to blacken or receive the tinge from any tingeing substance: to be well imbued or tinged--pickles &c. with the pickle or brine; manure &c. with salts: to be imbued and mellowed with the heat of the aḍhī (layers of straw)--mangoes &c.: also to enter deeply into and stain or color--pickle, brine, salts, a dye: and, freely, to pervade or affect the whole system--fever, the venereal lues or other malady, poison or other morbific matter, a medicine or drug: also to undergo such pervasion or affection--the system or body: to become general, and thus assume a credible shape and color--a report, tidings: to look full, florid, lively--an emaciated and colorless person under convalescence. 2 Freely.
