Rāṇapura (राणपुर) is identified with Ranakpur (Rajasthan), and represents one of the various Tīrthas (sacred places), according to the Tīrthāvalī by Samayasundara (dealing with Sacred places in Jain literature), which is included in the collection of manuscripts at the ‘Vincenzo Joppi’ library, collected by Luigi Pio Tessitori during his visit to Rajasthan between 1914 and 1919.—This garland of Jain sacred places praises [e.g., Rāṇapura], [...]. Hence beside pan-Indian Jain sacred places, sites located in Rajasthan have a good place here. [...] Rāṃṇapura (Rāṇapura, mod. Ranakpur, Rajasthan) represents a famous Jain sacred place with exquisitely carved marble temples, dedicated in particular to the first Jina, Ādinātha. the main temple is evoked in this song which was composed in VS 1672 (= 1615 CE).
