契經 [qi jing]—(Qìjīng)—[術語 [shu yu] (Shùyǔ)] A scripture (經文 [jing wen] (Jīngwén)) is called "契 [qi] (Qì)" (accordance/fitting) because it accords with the capacity of people and the principles of the Dharma. 大乘義章 [da cheng yi zhang] (Dàchéng Yìzhāng), Volume 1, states: "Because its sacred teachings correspond to human sentiments and accord with the characteristics of the Dharma. Based on this meaning, it is named 'accordance' (契 [qi] (Qì))." 玄義 [xuan yi] (Xuányì), Volume 8 (part 1), states: "When translated as 'accordance' (契 [qi] (Qì)), it means according with conditions, according with phenomena, and according with meaning." 義林章 [yi lin zhang] (Yìlín Zhāng), Volume 2 (part 2), states: "Now, in the Mahāyāna explanation, the Sanskrit word is 素呾纜 [su da lan] (Sùdānlǎn), which is translated as (Qìjīng) here. (omitted section) 'Accordance' (契 [qi] (Qì)) means to accord with, to fit, and to unite." 探玄記 [tan xuan ji] (Tànxuán Jì), Volume 1, states: "素呾纜 [su da lan] (Sùdānlǎn) is translated as (Qìjīng) here. 'Accordance' (契 [qi] (Qì)) has two meanings: namely, it accords with the principle, and it fits the capacity (of the listener)."
契經—【術語】經文者契人之機，合法之理，故云契。大乘義章一曰：「以其聖教稱當人情，契合法相。從義立目，名之為契。」玄義八上曰：「翻為契者，契緣契事契義。」義林章二本曰：「今大乘解，梵言素呾纜，此名契經。（中略）契者，契當至合之義。」探玄記一曰：「素呾纜，此云契經。契有二義，謂契理故，合機故。」

(zhōng lüè) qì zhě, qì dāng zhì hé zhī yì.” tàn xuán jì yī yuē: “sù dá lǎn, cǐ yún qì jīng. qì yǒu èr yì, wèi qì lǐ gù, hé jī gù.”

奇景 [qí jǐng] [qi jing]—
Peculiar scenery 奇異的景色 [qi yi de jing se]. In Chapter 5 of Dream of the Red Chamber 《紅樓夢 [hong lou meng]》: "Just follow me to admire the strange sights ; why bother to remain here in such a state of boredom 打這悶葫蘆 [da zhe men hu lu]?" In Chapter 2 of The Travels of Lao Can, Part Two 《老殘遊記二編 [lao can you ji er bian]》: "The water flowing down from the mountain was so forceful that it shot directly beyond the bridge. When people walked on the bridge, they would pass directly underneath the waterfall, which was also an interesting peculiar sight ."
