(from Sanskrit purastāt, compare prec., or Pali puratthaṃ, plus.-tah: = Pali puratthato, misdefined in [Pali Text Society’s Pali-English Dictionary]), to the east, on the eastern side: Pāṇḍavasmiṃ purastataḥ Mahāvastu ii.198.17 (verse) = Pali Sn 416 Paṇḍavassa puratthato. Render Mahāvastu on (Mt.) Pāṇḍava, on its eastern part. Confirmed by Jātaka (Pali) i.66.14 puratthābhimukho.
