Source: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesA village in the Dakkhinadesa of Ceylon, where Manabharana lived under the name of Virabahu (Cv.lxi.26) and where Parakkamabahu I. was born (Ibid., lxxii.18). Parakkamabahu subsequently erected there the Sutigharacetiya, one hundred and eighty feet high, on the site of the house in which he was born. Ibid., lxxix.61.
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
