菩提道場 [pu ti dao chang]—Bodhimaṇḍa — [Miscellaneous Term] Bodhimaṇḍa refers to the site where the Buddha achieved Bodhi (菩提 [pu ti]). Specifically, it is the Vajrasana (金剛座 [jin gang zuo]), also known as the Diamond Throne, located under the Bodhi Tree (菩提樹 [pu ti shu]) by the Nairanjana River (尼連禪河 [ni lian chan he]) in the ancient Magadha Kingdom (摩竭陀國 [mo jie tuo guo]). Because Shakyamuni Buddha (釋尊 [shi zun]) attained Buddhahood (成道 [cheng dao]) here, it is therefore known as the Bodhimaṇḍa.

菩提道場—【雜名】Bodhimaṇḍa,佛成就菩提之道場也。在摩竭陀國尼連禪河邊,菩提樹下之金剛座是也。釋尊於此成道,故謂之菩提道場。
