Pratyanantara (प्रत्यनन्तर).—a.

1) being in immediate neighbourhood; दानमानादिसत्कारैः कुरुष्व प्रत्यनन्तरम् (dānamānādisatkāraiḥ kuruṣva pratyanantaram) Rām.4.15.27. (com. pratyanantaraṃ svādhīnam).

2) standing nearest (as an heir).

3) immediately following, closely connected with; जीवेत् क्षत्रियधर्मेण स ह्यस्य (jīvet kṣatriyadharmeṇa sa hyasya) (brāhmaṇasya) प्रत्यनन्तरः (pratyanantaraḥ); Manusmṛti 1. 82;8.185.
