Pratyākhyānapakṣa (प्रत्याख्यानपक्ष).—An alternative which proposes the rejection of something such as a rule or its part; cf. यदि प्रत्याख्यान पक्षः इदमपि प्रत्याख्यायते (yadi pratyākhyāna pakṣaḥ idamapi pratyākhyāyate) M. Bh. on Siva Sutra 4; cf also अदीवयुरिति पदकारस्च प्रत्याख्यानपक्षे उदाहरणमुपपन्नं भवति (adīvayuriti padakārasca pratyākhyānapakṣe udāharaṇamupapannaṃ bhavati) Vyadi Pari. 42.
