Pratiyoga (प्रतियोग).—

1) Being or forming a counter-part of anything.

2) Opposition, resistance; यत्तः परेषां प्रतियोगशङ्कितः (yattaḥ pareṣāṃ pratiyogaśaṅkitaḥ) Bhāgavata 4.1.22;5.14.1.

3) Contradiction.

4) Cooperation.

6) An antidote, a remedy.

6) A rejoinder; प्रतियोगार्थिनी काचित् गृहीत्वा चूतवल्लरीम् (pratiyogārthinī kācit gṛhītvā cūtavallarīm) Bu. Ch.4.41.
