Pratīṣ (प्रतीष्).—

1) 6 P. To receive, accept; देवस्य शासनं प्रतीष्य (devasya śāsanaṃ pratīṣya) Ś.6.

2) To welcome, greet, receive, honour; एष माधवीमण्डपः स्वागतेनैव नौ प्रतीच्छति (eṣa mādhavīmaṇḍapaḥ svāgatenaiva nau pratīcchati) Ś.6.

3) To obey (as an order).

4) To wait for, expect; हृदि प्रतीष्या कवयो मनीषा (hṛdi pratīṣyā kavayo manīṣā) Ṛgveda 1. 129.4; एष खलु त्वां प्रतीच्छति (eṣa khalu tvāṃ pratīcchati) V.2.
