Pratisaṃskāra (प्रतिसंस्कार).—m. (to Pali paṭisaṃkharoti, and Sanskrit pratisaṃskaroti is used in substantially the same way; the noun seems not recorded, but Pali has adj. °khārika, °khāriya), repair, restoration (of ruined or damaged buildings): (stūpe khaṇḍasphuṭa-) °kāra-karaṇāya Divyāvadāna 22.19 and 23.1; read so in 22.11 and 23.3 for text °prati- saṃskaraṇāya (haplogr.); similarly in Karmavibhaṅga (and Karmavibhaṅgopadeśa) 34.5, text with inferior ms. (stūpacaityavihārāṇāṃ śīrṇānāṃ) prati- saṃskaraṇam, read with better ms. pratisaṃskāra- [Page371-b+ 71] karaṇam; (khaṇḍasphuṭa-) °kāraṃ kuruta Divyāvadāna 23.8, and (°sphuṭita-)°kāraḥ kṛtaḥ 23.11; jīrṇagṛhavat °kāra-dhāryaḥ Śikṣāsamuccaya 231.3, to be held up (only) by repair; °kāraṃ karoti, with acc. of things to be repaired, (te satpuruṣāḥ ye caṭita- sphuṭitān vihārān) °kāraṃ kurvanti Kāraṇḍavvūha 13.10, similarly 11.
