Source: Shodhganga: Temples of Salem region Up to 1336 ADKarṇa (प्रतिकर्ण).—A type of aṅgavibhakti (‘indendations’ in a wall line);—Pratikarṇas are also found as an aṅgavibhakti of the temple plan. Pratikarṇas are square projections made in the interspaces of the wall between the karṇa and the bhadra.
Vastushastra (वास्तुशास्त्र, vāstuśāstra) refers to the ancient Indian science (shastra) of architecture (vastu), dealing with topics such architecture, sculpture, town-building, fort building and various other constructions.
