Pratikarman (प्रतिकर्मन्).—n.

1) Requital, retaliation; उषिता स्मो वने वासं प्रतिकर्म चिकीर्षवः (uṣitā smo vane vāsaṃ pratikarma cikīrṣavaḥ) Mahābhārata (Bombay) 4.58.18.

2) Redress, remedy, counter-action; पश्येव कृतव्रणप्रतिकर्मा वत्सराजः (paśyeva kṛtavraṇapratikarmā vatsarājaḥ) Pratijñā 2.

3) Personal decoration, dress, toilet; (abalāḥ) प्रतिकर्म कर्तुमुपचक्रमिरे समये हि सर्वमुपकारि कृतम् (pratikarma kartumupacakramire samaye hi sarvamupakāri kṛtam) Śiśupālavadha 9.43;5.27; Kumārasambhava 7.6; आविष्कृताङ्गप्रतिकर्मरम्यं बिभीषणं वाचमुवाच माता (āviṣkṛtāṅgapratikarmaramyaṃ bibhīṣaṇaṃ vācamuvāca mātā) Bk. 12.1.; विभूषितेयं प्रतिकर्मनित्या (vibhūṣiteyaṃ pratikarmanityā) Rām.2.37.35.
