Pratihasta (प्रतिहस्त).—a deputy, an agent, substitute, proxy; आश्रितानां भृतौ स्वामिसेवायां धर्मसेवने । पुत्रस्योत्पादने चैव न सन्ति प्रतिहस्तकाः (āśritānāṃ bhṛtau svāmisevāyāṃ dharmasevane | putrasyotpādane caiva na santi pratihastakāḥ) || H.2.33.
