Prastārapattana (प्रस्तारपत्तन) or Chandaḥprastārasāraṇī is the name of a work ascribed to Kṛṣṇadeva Tripāṭhin (1822 C.E.): the eldest son of Jayagopāla and an authority on chandas of his period. Kṛṣṇadeva was patronized by Jānakīnandana, son of Devakīnandana at whose instance he composed Chandaḥprastārasāraṇī. He does not attribute his scholarship to others, but says that the purpose of composing this work was to please the learned scholars and it is his own creation.

The Chandaḥprastārasāraṇī describes the rules and arrangements of prastāra. He highlights the prastāra in his text as the permutation done by the gurus and laghus in the pādas of a verse. It is divided in uncountable numbers (akhila). He again says about the avarohakrama of prastāra that laghu should be written under the first guru and so on. Kṛṣṇadeva praises Lords Gaṇeśa, Rāma (Sīteśa) and Śeṣa (Piṅgala) and narrates his authorship in the invocatory verse of the work. He says though there were many texts available, his humble attempt was to highlight the tricky methods of Sanskrit prosody.

Closely allied with Prakrit and Pali, Sanskrit is more exhaustive in both grammar and terms and has the most extensive collection of literature in the world, greatly surpassing its sister-languages Greek and Latin.
