Praṇītabhūmi (प्रणीतभूमि) is the name of region visited by Mahāvīra during his second year of spiritual-exertion.—When Gośālaka heard of Bahula Brahmin’s alms giving from people, he knew this was the effect of the Lord’s penance. He saw the Lord outside Kollāga at Praṇīta-bhūmi. Delighted, he paid obeisance to the Lord and said –“From today, you are my religious teacher and I am your disciple”.
