Source: Brill: Śaivism and the Tantric Traditions (philosophy)Pramāṇarūpa (प्रमाणरूप) refers to “that which is called an inference”, according to the Īśvarapratyabhijñāvivṛtivimarśinī 2.161.—Accordingly, “[...] Therefore what [we] call an inference (pramāṇarūpa) is [not just any] conceptualization, [but only one] that consists in a means of [valid] knowledge since it is reliable, [and one] that concerns an object possessed of a specific time and place, [therefore being] fit to be [something on which] an activity [is exerted]”.
Shaiva (शैव, śaiva) or Shaivism (śaivism) represents a tradition of Hinduism worshiping Shiva as the supreme being. Closely related to Shaktism, Shaiva literature includes a range of scriptures, including Tantras, while the root of this tradition may be traced back to the ancient Vedas.
