praḷayacapalā (प्रळयचपला) [or ळा, ḷā].—f (Poetry.) The lightning of the Great destruction: hence any extraordinary lightning. Ex. citricyā lēpēṃ uṭhā uṭhī || pra0 grāsilī ||. Again praḷayacapaḷēṃ umāḷē uṭhati || tēviṃ divya kuṇḍalēṃ taḷapati ||. 2 Used sometimes in the figurative applications of pralayavīja. 3 Similar compounds of praḷaya occur in poetry; as praḷayamēgha, praḷayavāta, praḷayavṛṣṭi, praḷayajvālā, praḷayadundubhi, &c. The clouds, wind, rain &c. of the or a praḷaya. Applied as a figure of Hyperbole.
