1) Obtaining, gaining, attaining.

2) Deceiving, imposing upon, cheating, overreaching; (nyavedayat) प्रलम्भमात्मनश्चैव शूद्रायाः पुत्रजन्म च (pralambhamātmanaścaiva śūdrāyāḥ putrajanma ca) Mahābhārata (Bombay) 1.16.3.
