Praghaṇa (प्रघण) or Praghana (प्रघन) or Praghāṇa (प्रघाण) or Praghāna (प्रघान).—

1) A porch before the door of a house, portico; प्रघाण-प्रघणालिन्दा बहिर्द्वारप्रकोष्ठके (praghāṇa-praghaṇālindā bahirdvāraprakoṣṭhake) Abh. Chin.1.1; तस्मिन्नन्तर्घणेऽपश्यन् प्रघाणे सौधसद्मनः (tasminnantarghaṇe'paśyan praghāṇe saudhasadmanaḥ); Bhaṭṭikāvya 7. 62.

(-ṇaḥ) 1. A terrace before a house. 2. A copper pot. 3. An iron crow or club. E. pra before han to strike, aff. ap, and the radical letter changed; also praghāṇa praghana, and praghāna .
