Pracurānna (प्रचुरान्न) refers to “prosperity” [?], according to the Bṛhatsaṃhitā (chapter 12), an encyclopedic Sanskrit work written by Varāhamihira mainly focusing on the science of ancient Indian astronomy astronomy (Jyotiṣa).—Accordingly, “If Canopus (Agastya) should appear of the colour of silver or crystal, or brilliant, there will be prosperity [i.e., pracurānna] in the land and mankind will be free from fear and disease. If Canopus should be crossed by meteoric falls or by comets, mankind will suffer from hunger and death. When the sun enters the constellation of Hasta, Canopus reappears, and when he enters the constellation of Rohiṇī, Canopus disappears”.
