Source: archive.org: Ceylon Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society 1963Posonavulla is the name of an ancient locality, corresponding with present Īripinniyāva, that existed near the ancient kingdom of Anurādhapura, Ceylon (Sri Lanka).—Posonavulla (present Īripinniyāva) in Sulinnarugama is referred to in an inscription of Udaya I (797-801) at Īripinniyāva, 2 miles west of Vahalkaḍa tank: the Hoya (present Mora Oya) and the dam across it (now in ruin, one mile south of the village) are also mentioned.
