Source: What is India: Annual Report on Indian Epigraphy (1945-1952)Polakkuḍi is an archaeologically important site situated in Nannilam-taluk (Tanjore district, Madras), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Polakkuḍi there is an inscription in the Tamil language on the back of a Jaina image near the tank. It states that Rājendraya Rājaśrī Mallāranāyar had a tank dug at Pelaikuḍi and incurred orders peohilating taking out of water from it by baskets (for irrigation) and the cutting down of trees surrounding it.
