piñjaṇēṃ (पिंजणें).—v c (piñjā S Cotton, or H) To card or comb (cotton, wool &c.) 2 To split or slit (bamboos, reeds, sticks, quills). Ex. nikarēṃ mā- ritāṃ satvaragati || kāṭhī piñja hōvūni jātī (for piñjūna jātī) || maga dusarī upaṭhūni ghēvūni hātīṃ || parī dayā cittīṃ upajēnā ||. 3 To tear lengthwise (cloth, paper).
