Phulchoki is the name of an ancient forest near Bhaktapura in Nepal.—The forest of Ambika, where Sudimna (Sudyumna) had been Changed into a woman named Illa (Ila), is near Bhaktapura. The forest is known a Phulchoki. The son of Ila was Pururaba (Pururava), who fell in love with Urvashi.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
