[...] Another way of solving the problem is analyzing the etymology, synonyms, their clinical application and chronological differences. [...] Pharmacognostical, phytochemical and pharmacological studies are good tools for identifying the right candidate from a set of controversial herbs. In vitro and in vivo studies can confirm whether the controversial plants possess the same biological activities.
Āyurveda (आयुर्वेद, ayurveda) is a branch of Indian science dealing with medicine, herbalism, taxology, anatomy, surgery, alchemy and related topics. Traditional practice of Āyurveda in ancient India dates back to at least the first millenium BC. Literature is commonly written in Sanskrit using various poetic metres.
