Source: What is India: Annual Report on Indian Epigraphy (1945-1952)Penugoṇḍa is an archaeologically important site situated in West Godavari District (Madras), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Penugoṇḍa there are Prakrit and Sanskrit inscriptions Issued from Jayapura. It registers the grant of Mulukuli in Kānīrāhāra to a number of Brāhmaṇas, well-versed in the Vēdas, etc., as dakṣiṇā by the king on the occasion of his prathama-kalyāṇa.
This inscription belongs to king Hastivarman.
