Payomuc (पयोमुच्) “clouds” and is another name for Meghakumāras, according to chapter 3.1 [sambhava-jina-caritra] of Hemacandra’s 11th century Triṣaṣṭiśalākāpuruṣacaritra: an ancient Sanskrit epic poem narrating the history and legends of sixty-three illustrious persons in Jainism.

Accordingly: “The Vāyukumāras cleaned the ground for a yojana, and the Clouds (i.e., payomuc) sprinkled it to prepare for a samavasaraṇa. The Vyantaras paved it with beautiful gold and jeweled slabs and scattered five-colored flowers on it. There they made four arches, one in each direction, ornamented with white umbrellas, flags, pillars, makara-faces, etc. [...]”.
