Pavaḷam (பவளம்) noun < pravāla. Red coral, stony axis of the stem of a gorgonian, Corallium rubram, one of nava-maṇi, q. v.; நவமணியுள் ஒன்று. பவளத் தன்ன மேனி [navamaniyul onru. pavalath thanna meni] (குறுந்தொகை [kurundogai] 1).
