See Tamil paṭṭolai = paṭṭolā, ‘a document’. Note: paṭṭolī is defined in the “Indian epigraphical glossary” as it can be found on ancient inscriptions commonly written in Sanskrit, Prakrit or Dravidian languages.

Source: Sutta: The Pali Text Society's Pali-English DictionaryPaṭṭoli, in yāna° at Vism. 328 is doubtful. It might be read as yāna-kaḷopi (on account of combination with kumbhimukha), or (preferably) as putoḷi (with v. l. BB), which is a regular variant for mutoli. The translation would be “provision bag for a carriage. ” See further discussed under mutoḷi. (Page 402)
