Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarPātresamitādi (पात्रेसमितादि).—A class of irregular com pound words headed by the compound word पात्रेसमित (pātresamita), which are taken correct as they are. This class of words consists mostly of words forming a tatpurușa compound which cannot be explained by regular rules. The class is called आकृतिगण (ākṛtigaṇa) and hence similar irregular words are included in it: e. g. पात्रेसमिताः, गेहेशूरः कूपमण्डूकः (pātresamitāḥ, geheśūraḥ kūpamaṇḍūkaḥ) etc cf. KS. on P. II.1.48.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
