Source: Wisdomlib Libary: KathāPātālagaṇa (पातालगण) is the name of an aged ascetic and devotee of Hāṭakeśvara, whose story is told in the sixth Ucchvāsa of the Udayasundarīkathā. When Pātālagaṇa arrived he informed Udayasundarī about the identity of the figure in a canvas painting she obtained.
The Udayasundarīkathā is a Sanskrit epic tale written by Soḍḍhala in the early 11th century, revolving around the Nāga princess Udayasundarī and Malayavāhana (king of Pratiṣṭhāna).
