Parpaṭāsana (पर्पटासन) is a type of posture (āsana), according to verse 93 of the Śrītattvanidhi.—Accordingly, “Place the hands on the ground. Hold the legs stiffly. This is parpaṭāsana, the medicinal herb”.

The 19th-century Śrītattvanidhi is a sanskrit treatise describing 80 primary āsanas, or ‘posture’ and several additional ones (e.g., parpaṭa-āsana).

This is similar to daṇḍāsana in Iyengar.
