Source: Wisdom Library: Nāṭya-śāstraParivṛttarecita (परिवृत्तरेचित).—One of the 32 aṅgahāras (major dance movement) mentioned in the Nāṭyaśāstra chapter 4. It is also known by then name Parivṛttakarecita. The instructions for this parivṛttarecita-aṅgahāra is as follows, “holding on the head hands in loose Svastika form and then after bending the body, the left hand to be made Recita, and raising the body, again the same hand to be made Recita, after this hands to show Latā gesture and assuming successively Vṛścika, Recita, Karihasta, Bhujaṅgatrāsita, Ākṣiptaka Karaṇas, then have Svastika foot; all this to be repeated after turning back completely, then asssume [successively] Karihasta.”.
An aṅgahāra represents a ‘major dance movement’ and consists of a sequence of karaṇas (minor dance movements). A karaṇa combines sthāna (standing position), cārī (foot and leg movement) and nṛttahasta (hands in dancing position).
