Paribhāṣaṇa (परिभाषण, “conversation”) refers to ‘admonition’; accepting responsibility for the plot. Paribhāṣaṇa represents one of the fourteen nirvahaṇasandhi, according to the Nāṭyaśāstra chapter 21. Nirvahaṇasandhi refers to the “segments (sandhi) of the concluding part (nirvahaṇa)” and represents one of the five segments of the plot (itivṛtta or vastu) of a dramatic composition (nāṭaka).

1) Speaking, discourse, talking, chatting, gossiping.

2) Expression of censure, admonition, reproof, abuse; आपद्गतोऽथवा वृद्धो गर्भिणी बाल एव वा परिभाषण- मर्हन्ति (āpadgato'thavā vṛddho garbhiṇī bāla eva vā paribhāṣaṇa- marhanti) Manusmṛti 9.283.
