Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarParaṃkāryatva (परंकार्यत्व).—Or परंकार्यत्वपक्ष (paraṃkāryatvapakṣa) the view that the subsequent संज्ञा (saṃjñā) or technical term should be preferred to the prior one, when both happen to apply simultaneously to a word. The word is frequently used in the Mahaabhaasya as referring to the reading आ काडारात् परं कार्यम् (ā kāḍārāt paraṃ kāryam) which is believed to have been an alternative reading to the reading आ कडारादेका संज्ञा (ā kaḍārādekā saṃjñā);cf. ननु च यस्यापि परंकार्यत्वं तेनापि परग्रहणं कर्तव्यम् (nanu ca yasyāpi paraṃkāryatvaṃ tenāpi paragrahaṇaṃ kartavyam); M. Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas.
