It is a Sanskrit technical term from Āyurveda (Indian medicine) and used in literature such the Carakasaṃhitā and the Suśrutasaṃhitā.
The different properties (guṇa) in this group are as following:
- Paratva (‘excellence’),
- Aparatva (‘non-excellence’),
- Yukti (‘rationale’),
- Saṃkhyā (‘enumeration’),
- Saṃyoga (‘conjunction’),
- Vibhāga (‘disjunction’),
- Pṛthaktva (‘separateness’),
- Parimāṇa (‘measurement’),
- Saṃskāra (‘processing’),
- Abhyāsa (‘practice’).
These properties together are known as ‘parādi’ (beginning with para).
