Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationPāpapraṇāśinī (पापप्रणाशिनी) refers to “that which destroys all sins”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.4.1 (“The dalliance of Śiva”).—Accordingly, as Brahmā said to Nārada: “O Nārada, listen to the tale of Śiva, the moon-crested lord. I shall narrate the story of Guha’s birth and the slaying of the demon Tāraka. Let it be heard. I shall tell you the story that destroys all sins (pāpapraṇāśinī), on hearing which a man is freed from all sins. This narrative is sinless. It is a wonderful secret. It dispels the distress caused by sin and wards off all obstacles. [...]”.
