pañcakarmē (पंचकर्मे).—n The five main actions of the body; viz. vomiting, evacuation by bleeding, discharge by stool, diseased excretion of fæces or purging, blowing the nose. 2 or, as in the Sanskrit vākya, pañcakarmāṇi The five movements or actings of a living creature; viz. utkṣēpaṇa, apakṣēpaṇa, ākuñcana, prasāraṇa, gamana Throwing up (of the limbs), throwing down, drawing in (contraction), spreading abroad or out (extension), going or moving. These five, in the resolutely consummating comprehension of Hindu philosophy, comprise all modes of movement actual and conceivable.
