pañcagauḍa (पंचगौड).—m (S) A term comprehending five distinctions among Brahmans,--gauḍa, kanōja, maithila, miśra, gurjjara. Another enumeration is sārasvata, kānya- kubja, gauḍa, utkala, maithila. Of this matter, as of many other matters, the settlement has been lost sight of by modern Brahmans.
