Palāmbu (पलाम्बु) refers to “flesh stock (used for soaking seeds)”, which is used by certain bio-organical recipes for plant mutagenesis, according to the Viśvavallabha-Vṛkṣāyurveda by Cakrapāṇi-Miśra (1580 CE): an encyclopedic work dealing with the principles of ancient Indian agriculture and horticulture.—Accordingly, “The seed of a ripened Mangifera indica should be placed in soaked fish and flesh stock (palāmbu) [mīnapalāmbunīha nihitaṃ] for seven days. It should then be dried well in the heat of the sun. Then it should be soaked in a mixture of milk, clarified butter and oil of Alangium salviifolium and sown. This produces a Solanum indicum tree that creates wonder in the world”.
