Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionarypālajatrā (पालजत्रा).—f An assembling and feasting in the fields of the cultivators, esp. at the season of reaping or thrashing. Sacrifice is offered to the guardian deities &c. The word is often used synonymously with ḍavarā q. v. This practice is in the Desh: in the Konkan̤ pālajatrā and, preferably, pālējatrā (from pālā & jatrā) signifies jatrā or an assembly in propitiation of the vanadēvatā or Sylvan deities, when the people (or a person) repair to the woods to cut down pālā or leafy branches for roofing or for ground-burning.
