pākharū (पाखरू) [or pāṅkharūṃ, or पांखरूं].—n A bird. A term of endearment for a beautiful woman. pākharāsārakhī vāṭa pāhaṇēṃ. (To look for as the bird cātaka looks for rain.) To ex- pect eagerly or earnestly. pāṅkharēṃ rākhaṇēṃ To keep, i.e. watch, the birds; to sling and shout them off from a field of corn.
