派賴 [pài lài] [pai lai]—
Unruly (頑劣 [wan lie]), shrewish (潑辣 [po la]). From Act Two of The Ghost in the Basin (盆兒鬼 [pen er gui]) by Anonymous (無名氏 [wu ming shi]) during the Yuan (元 [yuan]) Dynasty: "I offer you sacrifices twice a year and worship you well, yet you do not look after me; instead, you humiliate me, behaving so utterly unreasonable." Also written as 憊賴 [bei lai] (bèilài) or 潑賴 [po lai] (pōlài).
派賴:頑劣、潑辣。元.無名氏《盆兒鬼》第二折:「我一年二祭,好生供奉你,你不看覷我,反來折挫我,直恁的派賴。」也作「憊賴」、「潑賴」。
