Source: Sutta: The Pali Text Society's Pali-English DictionaryPahassati, (pa+has, perhaps pa+hṛṣ, Sk. harṣati, cp. pahaṃsati2) to laugh, be joyful or cheerful Sn. 887 (=haṭṭha pahaṭṭha Nd1 296; cp. SnA 555 hāsajāta). The pp. pahasita (q. v.) is derived fr. pres. pahasati, which makes the equation pahassati=pahaṃsati2 all the more likely. (Page 448)
