1) Padakāṇḍa (पदकाण्ड).—A term used in connection with the first section of the Vākyapadīya named ब्रह्मकाण्ड (brahmakāṇḍa) also, which deals with padas, as contrasted with the second section which deals with Vākyas;

2) Padakāṇḍa.—A section of the Așțadhyāyī of Pāṇini, which gives rules about changes and modifications applicable to the pada, or the formed word, as contrasted with the base (अङ्ग (aṅga)) and the suffixes. The section is called पदाधिकार (padādhikāra) which begins with 28 the rule पदस्य (padasya) P.VIII.1.16. and ends with the rule इडाया वा (iḍāyā vā) VIII. 3. 54.
