Source: archive.org: Yoga Tradition of the Mysore PalacePādahastasaṃyogāsana (पादहस्तसंयोगासन) is a type of posture (āsana), according to verse 115 of the Śrītattvanidhi.—Accordingly, “Lie face down. Bring the two heels to the neck grasping the ankles with the hands. This is pādahastasaṃyogāsana, the hand and foot connection āsana”.
The 19th-century Śrītattvanidhi is a sanskrit treatise describing 80 primary āsanas, or ‘posture’ and several additional ones (e.g., pāda-hasta-saṃyoga-āsana).
A similar name to this, pādahastāsana, does occur in Iyengar but a different āsana is illustrated. This āsana also appears similar to the dhanurāsana in Iyengar.
Yoga is originally considered a branch of Hindu philosophy (astika), but both ancient and modern Yoga combine the physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga teaches various physical techniques also known as āsanas (postures), used for various purposes (eg., meditation, contemplation, relaxation).
